Kelley
Norred Bio Kelley Nolan Norred has been involved
in horses for her entire life. She rode and showed all during her childhood,
and following graduation from high school, she attended Meredith Manor
Equestrian Centre, where she earned a Riding Master degree. After completing
this program, she worked on a breeding farm before accepting the opportunity
to work for the US Equestrian Three Day Team under Jack LeGoff. Kelley
was at the Team for six years, ending her time there as barn manager.
During her time at the Team, Kelley started many of the young horses,
and on occasion was able to compete them, as well as provided daily care
and management of the Team horses.
Following her time at the Team, Kelley moved to Tallahassee, where she has been teaching lessons and training horses for seventeen years. She has been a competitive eventer during her time in Tallahassee, competing successfully through Preliminary. Several of her students had horses with saddle fit issues and this drove her interest in learning about saddles and how their fit affects horses and riders. Kelley and several students found the Albion saddles to be the best fitting for their horses, many of the eventers having two Albion saddles, and so, when the local Performance Saddlery representative announced she was moving to a different area, the only thing to do was for Kelley to step in and become trained to fit and flock saddles! Kelley has, as her main focus, the health and well being of the whole horse. A correctly fitting saddle is a very important part of releasing a horse's potential. She has enjoyed the discovery process inherent in finding which saddle will work best for both the horse and the rider, and then participating in assuring that the horse is as comfortable as possible. It is almost impossible for a horse that is uncomfortable in an ill-fitting saddle to work in harmony with its rider to make progress in its work. By assisting riders in making their horses as comfortable as possible, Kelley hopes to aid them along their path to achieving a successful partnership.
